Tan Choon Heong
Tan Choon Heong, a Malaysian aged 48 is our Independent Non-Executive Director. He was appointed to our Board on 18 August 2025.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Thames Valley University (currently known as University of West London) in 1998. He subsequently obtained his Certificate of Legal Practice in 2000 and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2001.
Following his admission to the Malaysian Bar, he began his legal career as a legal associate and gained several years of practical experience across multiple law firms, where he was involved in a combination of litigation and conveyancing matters, including banking and hire purchase disputes, contractual claims, tenancy and land-related matters, as well as real estate transactions.
In 2005, he joined Foo & Tan as Partner, where he shifted his focus to corporate and commercial litigation. His responsibilities included representing clients in shareholder disputes, oppression suits, boardroom conflicts as well as matters involving breach of fiduciary duties.
He then joined Lim Soh & Goonting as Partner in 2009, continuing his work in corporate and commercial litigation, including complex shareholder and director disputes, injunctive relief applications as well as enforcement of commercial agreements.
In 2014, he joined Ong Kok Bin & Co as Managing Partner. His current areas of practice include insolvency litigation, acting for liquidators, receivers and managers as well as advising creditors and distressed companies in judicial management, schemes of arrangement and voluntary liquidation matters. To date, he continues to practise at Ong Kok Bin & Co.
He is a Member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Malaysia (IPAM) and the Malaysia Carbon Market Association, reflecting his ongoing engagement in insolvency and restructuring frameworks as well as the broader corporate sustainability agenda.
